Assets like trailers, generators, light towers, tool cribs, and compressors have their own category in ClearPathGPS. Attach an asset to the truck carrying it, and it will show up under that vehicle on the map. Any device works with this feature, including BeWhere trackers as well as Topfly, XT45, and 6000-series devices you may already have.
Setting Up an Asset
Name and configure the asset. From Admin > Assets, open the asset and set the Asset Name, Equipment Type, and other details.
Add it to groups. Groups can hold both vehicles and assets.
Change it to a vehicle, if needed. You can switch a device from an asset to a vehicle at any time.
Configuring a BeWhere Asset
Make sure you have the Admin role.
Go to Admin > Assets.
Click Edit Asset Settings.
If you'd like additional information and/or recommendations for configuring asset trackers, please see Configuring Asset Trackers.
Turning an Existing Device Into an Asset
Go to Admin > Vehicles, open the device, and on the Settings/Device tab, use the Device Type toggle to switch it to Asset.
If the device has current attachments, you'll be asked to confirm before the switch takes effect. Group memberships stay in place either way.
Attaching an Asset to a Vehicle
You can do this from the web or the ClearPathGPS mobile app:
Open the vehicle or asset on the Map.
Click + Edit Attached Assets (on a vehicle) or + Edit Attached Vehicle (on an asset).
Pick from the dropdown menu and click Save.
If an asset is already attached elsewhere, you'll be asked to confirm before it moves.
Setting a Low Tracker Battery Alert
Go to Alerts, click Create Alert, select Low Tracker Battery, give it a name, choose your assets or groups and recipients, and click Save.
How Assets Appear on the Map
The Map list panel has three tabs:
All — vehicles, vehicles with attached assets, and unattached assets
Vehicle — vehicles and vehicles with attached assets
Asset — attached assets and unattached assets
A vehicle's pin shows a chain link icon with a count of attached assets. Opening an attached asset shows both the asset and its vehicle on the map.
To look back at past attachments, open the vehicle's Map History. The Attached Asset column shows which assets were attached at each point in time. Asset Map History offers the same view, with an Attached Vehicle column instead.
Ordering More Trackers
From Admin > Assets, click Order More Trackers.
