Configuring Asset Trackers

Learn how to configure BeSol, BeBatt, and BeMini asset trackers in ClearPathGPS, including Timer-Based and Motion (with Trips) options and recommended settings for each device.

BeSol+, BeBatt, and BeMini asset trackers can each be set up to report location in the way that best fits how you use them. This article walks through the default setup, the two configuration types available, and our recommended settings for each device.

Default Configuration

Every tracker ships ready to use, set to report its location once every 24 hours. This conservative schedule helps preserve battery life before the device is fully set up and in regular use. Once you're ready, you can switch to whichever configuration type suits your fleet.

Accessing Asset Configuration

  1. Ensure you have the Admin role.

  2. Navigate to Admin > Assets.

  3. Click Edit Asset Settings.

Configuration Types

Each tracker supports two configuration types: Timer-Based and Motion (with Trips).

Timer-Based

With Timer-Based configuration, the device reports its location on a fixed schedule, based on the interval you set.

For example, a device set to a 1-hour interval will report its location every hour (60 minutes) until you change the settings or the device loses power.

Motion (with Trips)

With Motion (with Trips) configuration, the device reports its location:

  • As soon as it detects movement (treated as the vehicle or asset starting up)

  • Continuously at a set interval while it keeps moving

  • Once more when movement stops (treated as shutting down)

For example, a device set to a 15-minute moving interval will report its location the moment it starts moving, every 15 minutes while in motion, and again when it stops.

This configuration also includes a Timer-Based component for when the device is stationary, so it continues to check in on a regular schedule even while parked. See Timer-Based above for details on how that works.
