Solar Tracker Installation Instructions

Note: All trackers ship active on the cellular network, tested, and associated with your account. Activation does not affect billing — your subscription activates per your agreed terms.

Do not open the device. Opening it damages the weatherproof seal and voids the warranty.

Already named the tracker in Vehicle Admin? Complete only Steps 1, 2, and 6, then confirm the vehicle appears with its location on your map page.

Step 1: Prepare for Installation

  1. Locate the Activation Code on the device and its packaging — this is the 15-digit IMEI number, listed as the Unique ID on the ClearPathGPS Vehicle Admin page.
  2. Take a photo or write down the Activation Code and the asset's name/number for reference.

Tip: Installing multiple devices? Keep a separate log of each Activation Code and asset name to avoid mix-ups.

Step 2: Disable Ship Mode

The device ships in Ship Mode to prevent tracking movement in transit. To wake it:

  1. Hold the touch sensor on the back of the device for 5 seconds. The Battery LED (right) flashes rapidly for the full duration.
  2. Release once the GPS LED (left) and Cellular LED (middle) begin blinking — the device is now out of Ship Mode.

Note: If you release the touch sensor too early, the device stays asleep. Repeat step 1.

Step 3: Start Activation

  1. Text the Activation Code from Step 1 to (805) 695-2388.

Step 4: Complete Activation

Reply to the text prompts with the following information:

  1. Vehicle/Asset Name — the name that will appear on your map
  2. VIN — Vehicle Identification Number or asset serial number
  3. License Plate — enter NONE if there isn't one

You'll receive a final message confirming Installation Complete.

Step 5: Mount the Device

Mount the device using the mounting holes on all 4 corners, ensuring:

  • The solar panel faces up with a clear, unobstructed view of the sky
  • The device is not exposed to continuous direct spray (e.g., a wheel well) — it's IP67 weatherproof-rated, but resistance to pressurized water isn't guaranteed
  • The case and mounting bracket remain free of cracks or bends

Step 6: Confirm on the Map

Check your ClearPathGPS map page and verify the vehicle appears with its current location.

Tips:

  • Made a mistake mid-process? Text RESET to start over from the top. Only one vehicle can be activated at a time.
  • Vehicle details can be reviewed or edited anytime on the Vehicle Admin page.
