Traditional Dash Cam Installation (bottom of windshield)
STEP 1: Y CABLE
If you are using a Y cable to attach the tracker and camera (or camera and ELD) to the vehicle, locate your JBUS or OBD port and attach the Y cable.
STEP 2: POWER ADAPTER & CABLE TIES
Plug the OBD power adapter into the end of the Y cable. Next, use the flexible cable ties to secure the cable under the dash and prevent any slack from hanging into the footwell.
STEP 3: TUCK STICK
Route the cable up the doorjamb to the windshield and extend it past the center of the dash. Use the tuck stick to hide the cable in the gap between the dash and windshield.
STEP 4: SUCTION BEAM
Select a tail (as short as possible) and slide it onto the arm. Insert the cable into the beam and route the cable down to the notch on the tail. Center the beam on the dash and push the tail against the windshield. Lift and push the suction cup against the windshield, then pull the lever to lock in place.
STEP 5: CAMERA
Plug the cable into the camera and mount it onto the beam. Use the tuck stick to tidy up any loose cable on the dashboard.
NOTE: You will not be able to access video in the portal until you have linked it to the tracker in step 7.
STEP 6: SERIAL NUMBER
Power up the camera and peel off the screen and lens protectors. Save the sticker with the camera's serial number on it and note the name of the vehicle.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT WRITE ON THE SCREEN.
STEP 7: LINK TO TRACKER
In the portal's dashcam admin page, click the radio button of the camera to assign, click to edit, name the camera, and assign the camera to the correct vehicle.
