Dashcam is offline
There are a couple of different places in the ClearPathGPS platform where it may indicate that a dashcam device is offline. An offline dashcam does not necessarily mean the unit is not operating correctly but in some cases may require investigation. This article details areas where you are likely to run into this status and what it means.
On the map:
-
Xirgocam:
- A dashcam assigned to a vehicle will show with the red dashcam offline icon on the map whenever a communication from the device has not been received within the last 72 hours.
- A Xirgocam can also send a Power Off event that will trigger this status to show. This event suggests that the dashcam has lost power and may have been disconnected.
- If the dashcam device is showing the "dashcam is offline" status but the last communication was less than 72 hours ago then it means this event was received. I.e. power loss
-
SmartWitness:
- A dashcam assigned to a vehicle will show with the red dashcam offline icon on the map whenever a communication from the device has not been received within the last 72 hours.
- SmartWitness dashcam devices do not currently have the ability to send an event that the unit has lost power.
During the media request flow:
- While making a media request, the dashcam is 'pinged' to determine if it is currently online.
- During this process the dashcam may not respond and it will be displayed at the top of the page "Dashcam is offline".
- Again, an offline response does not necessarily indicate the that there is an issue with the dashcam but simply that it cannot be reached at this time.
