START HERE ONCE DEVICE IS INSTALLED
IMPORTANT: ENSURE THE TRACKER HAS POWER FOR 5 MINUTES BEFORE ATTEMPTING ACTIVATION. This allows the device to communicate with ClearPathGPS, receive programming, and be ready for activation.
Covert Tracker Activation Instructions:
Note: All trackers are shipped from ClearPathGPS already activated, tested, and associated with your account.* The following text-to-activate process will add your vehicle's information to your account. We recommend doing this process with the vehicle parked outside to ensure good GPS and Cellular connection. If the tracker has already been given a name in the Vehicle Admin page, only do steps 6 and 7. Then, on your map page, ensure the vehicle has appeared with its location.
Step 1: Take note of the device's Activation Code.

The Activation Code is a 10-digit number on the white label. This code is also listed as the "Unique ID" in your ClearPathGPS Vehicle Admin page.
Step 2: Text the Activation Code from Step 1, to ClearPathGPS at telephone number: (805) 695-2388
Step 3: After you text your Activation Code to ClearPathGPS, you will receive a few text messages prompting you to reply with information about the vehicle. Respond according to the prompts with the:
Vehicle Name: This is the name that you will see on the map
VIN: Vehicle Identification Number. This can be found on the vehicle's registration as well as on the vehicle itself
License Plate
Current Odometer
Step 6: After sending the current odometer, turn on the vehicle's engine and wait 30 seconds.
Step 7: Turn off the vehicle's engine and wait 30 seconds.
Step 8: Text 'done'. You should receive a text back saying, 'installation complete.'
Tips:
Your vehicle information can be reviewed and easily edited in the 'Vehicle Admin' page of your ClearPathGPS account.
If the installation fails – e.g. IgnOn(Fail), then start the engine, wait 30 seconds, switch off the engine, wait 30 seconds, then text DONE. This will re-test ignition on/off detection.
If you get stuck – text RESET. This will reset the vehicle you are working on. You can then try the same vehicle again or start a new one. You can only activate one vehicle at a time.

Installation Guidelines
Tracker Location
The tracker uses only internal antennas for GPS and Cellular Data
Install the tracker as high in the dashboard as possible
Physical Attachment
Tracker to be hidden in dashboard
The tracker must be attached to the vehicle in a manner that precludes all movement
If a flat, clean, surface is available Velcro "Industrial Strength" Fasteners may be used
NOTE: Do not use Velcro to suspend the tracker under a surface
Zip-ties can be used to attach the tracker to wiring bundles, chassis components etc.
Wiring Guidelines
Wiring should be completed in as "Factory Installed" a manner as possible
No wiring to be visible
The wiring harness includes fuses for constant and ignition power. Fuses must be installed and not bypassed or omitted.
Excess wiring to be coiled and zip-tied
No Scotchlok or similar wiring splice devices to be used
Wiring Setup
The ClearPathGPS tracker requires three wires to be connected to the vehicle:
RED: Power - Constant 12 volts
WHITE: Ignition Sense – 12 volts when Engine is ON. 0 volts when Engine is OFF
BLACK: Ground
RED: Power - Constant 12 volt
Use a Voltmeter to locate a wire which always has 12-volt power, even when vehicle is off
Test the 12-volt power wire using a multimeter – and verify that the voltage does not fluctuate while the engine is being started (cranked). If it fluctuates, choose another wire! [WARNING: The tracker is sensitive to voltage fluctuations – and choosing the wrong wire can cause irreparable damage!]
Note: Some vehicles have delayed power down on some circuits (e.g. to allow the radio to operate after the ignition is off). ClearPathGPS recommends locating the 12-volt constant power circuit 30 minutes after the ignition was last switched off
WHITE: Ignition Sense
Locate a wire that:
When the Ignition is ON : Has between 11 and 14 volts. The voltage should be stable once the engine is running. If the voltage fluctuates – you need to find another wire
When the Ignition is OFF : Has 0 volts
BLACK: Ground
Connect to the vehicle's chassis
THE RECOMMENDED WIRE SPREADING TOOL IS AVAILABLE FROM AMAZON.COM:
Recommended tool: Neiko 01924A Ultimate Self-Adjusting Wire and Cable Stripper. It's a self-adjusting stripper suited to copper and aluminum cables (roughly 10–24 AWG), with a thumb-wheel micro-adjust for smaller-gauge wires, an adjustable length stop, and a crimping section for insulated/non-insulated terminals.
Making Connections
Wiring to be spliced, wrapped, taped and zip-tied
Step 1: Identify wire to be spliced into

Step 3: The conductor is now exposed
| Step 4: Strip the wire to be inserted

Step 5: Make anopening, and insert the wire 
| Step 6: Wrap the inserted wire tightly around

Step 7: Electrical Tape the two wires together 
| Step 8: Zip-tie the connection

Crimp a ring terminal onto the black wire
Screw this into the vehicle chassis using a self-tapping metal screw
