XT4769 Installation Guidelines
(Xirgo Trailer Tracking Unit)
IMPORTANT: All devices are sent in "SHIP MODE." During installation you must press and hold the black button next to the wiring harness port for 10 seconds to wake the device; lights will flash on the unit.
Tracker Location
The tracker uses only internal antennas for GPS and cellular data.
Install the tracker as high as possible, ideally with a clear view of the sky.
The tracker has an internal lithium-ion battery; do not install it in a location that will exceed 165°F (e.g. NOT directly under a windshield).
The tracker is weatherproof (IP66 rated), but:
Do not install it where it will be subject to direct spray (e.g. in a wheel well).
Do not open the tracker — opening it will damage the weatherproof seal and VOID the warranty.
Physical Attachment
Locate a position where the tracker can be wired to the vehicle/trailer's electrical system.
The tracker must be attached so that all movement is precluded.
Zip-ties can be used to attach the tracker to wiring bundles, chassis components, etc.
Ideal mounting is with the cable pointing down.
Recommended wire-spreading tool: Neiko 01924A Self-Adjusting Wire & Cable Stripper, available on Amazon.
Wiring Guidelines
Wiring should be completed in as "Factory Installed" a manner as possible.
No wiring to be visible.
The wiring harness includes fuses for constant and ignition power. Fuses must be installed and not bypassed or omitted.
Tape off unused wires with electrical tape.
Excess wiring to be coiled and zip-tied.
No Scotchlok or similar wiring splice devices to be used.
Wiring Setup — the ClearPathGPS tracker uses up to three wires:
RED: Power — constant 12 volts*
BLACK: Ground
WHITE: Ignition Sense (Optional) — remaining wires should be taped off securely; they are not used.
RED WIRE: Power — constant 12 volt (or higher depending on your system*)
Use a voltmeter to locate a wire that has 12-volt power.*
Circuit must be able to continuously source 1 Amp at 1 Volts (see note below — looks like a typo).
Test the 12-volt* wire with a multimeter and verify the voltage does not fluctuate while the engine is cranked. If it fluctuates, choose another wire. (WARNING: The tracker is sensitive to voltage fluctuations — choosing the wrong wire can cause irreparable damage.)
BLACK WIRE: Ground
Connect to the vehicle's chassis (see page 3), or to a ground wire.
WHITE WIRE: Ignition Sense (optional connection)
Connect the white wire to a circuit that is powered when the engine is running.
Ignition ON: 8–30 volts (stable once the engine is running; if it fluctuates, find another wire).
Ignition OFF: 0 volts.
Note: Ignition sense enables the tracker to report when equipment is running and provides 30-second tracking when moving above 5 mph. Without ignition sense (white wire not connected), the unit provides 10-minute tracking updates while moving but cannot track engine hours.
If ignition detection is not required, the white wire is not used and should be taped up.
These units are compatible with 24-volt systems. The device is rated up to 30 volts, tolerant up to 40 volts.
Interpret "12 volts" in these instructions as whatever the appropriate voltage is for your vehicle.
Making Connections
Wiring to be spliced, wrapped, taped, and zip-tied:

2. Using strippers, open the insulation. |  |
3. The conductor is now exposed. |  |
4. Strip the wire to be inserted. |  |
5. Make an opening and insert the wire. |  |
6. Wrap the inserted wire tightly around. |  |
7. Electrical-tape the two wires together.

8. Zip-tie the connection. |

For Ground:
Crimp a ring terminal onto the black wire.
Screw this into the vehicle chassis using a self-tapping metal screw.
After Installation: Assigning the Tracker to a Vehicle
If the white wire was NOT used:
Ignition will not be detected. Log in to the ClearPathGPS portal and navigate to Administration → Vehicle Admin to enter the vehicle's information. This completes your installation.
If the white wire was used:
Proceed with the tracker assignment instructions below.
TTU Tracker Vehicle Association Instructions
Note: All trackers ship from ClearPathGPS already activated, tested, and associated with your account.* The following text-to-activate process associates your vehicle's information with the tracker. Do this with the vehicle parked outside for good GPS/cellular connection.
Step 1: Press and hold the black button next to the wiring harness port for 10 seconds to wake the device; lights will flash.
Step 2: Take note of the device's Activation Code (photo or write it down). It's a 15-digit number on the white label, also listed as the "Unique ID" in your ClearPathGPS Vehicle Admin page.
Step 3: Text the Activation Code to ClearPathGPS at (805) 695-2388.
Step 4: You'll receive text messages prompting you to reply with vehicle information:
Vehicle Name (shown on map)
VIN (or 'None' if no VIN)
License Plate (or 'None')
Current Odometer.
Step 5: After sending the odometer, turn on the engine and wait 30 seconds.
Step 6: Turn off the engine and wait 30 seconds.
Step 7: Text 'done' — you should get a reply saying 'installation complete.'
Tips:
Vehicle info can be reviewed/edited in the 'Vehicle Admin' page.
If install fails (e.g. IgnOn(Fail)): start engine, wait 30s, switch off, wait 30s, text DONE to re-test ignition detection.
If stuck, text RESET. One vehicle at a time.
*This activation does not relate to billing; subscriptions activate based on agreed terms.
