Moving a tracker to a different vehicle
Trackers can be moved between vehicles at anytime.
There are two ways to update the vehicle information associated with the tracker when switching to a new vehicle. (Both of these methods require you to have Admin Privileges on your account, more on that here: User Permissions)
You can reset a tracker for the 'Text to Activate' process that was completed during the initial install. We recommend doing this process as this will verify that ignition is being detected by the vehicle.
- Swap the tracker into the new vehicle and take note of the "Unique ID" number that is printed on the unit.
- Navigate to Administration -> Vehicle Admin
- Select the device you wish to reset by finding the Unique ID, and click 'Edit'
- Copy the Vehicle ID field (It will say 'cp...') and paste the cp number into the Vehicle Description and Short Name.
- Click on 'Change' at the bottom
BEFORE:
AFTER:
Once you have done the above, you can do the text to activate process.
Instructions for the Text-To-Activate can be found here, by device.
- Swap the tracker into the new vehicle and take note of the "Unique ID" number that is printed on the unit.
- Navigate to Administration -> Vehicle Admin and Edit the unit with that Unique ID (Or if you are sure of the name of the vehicle that it was in)
- Manually change the fields to match the new vehicle. We recommend that you record and upload the following information to the system:
- Vehicle name
- VIN number
- Vehicle Make
- Vehicle Model
- License Plate
- Odometer (Providing an accurate odometer reading at time of installs and updating on a semi regular basis will ensure the mileage reported remains accurate.)
- Be sure to click 'Change' at the bottom to save your edits.
4. Ideally, once this has been done, you should start the vehicle and verify on the map that Ignition was detected and the device is reporting properly.
